The authors of the guidance say that for too long, experts have concentrated on the need for "safe sex" and committed relationships while ignoring the principle reason that many people have sex. Entitled Pleasure, the leaflet has been drawn up by NHS Sheffield, but it also being circulated outside the city. The leaflet carries the slogan "an orgasm a day keeps the doctor away". It also says: "Health promotion experts advocate five portions of fruit and veg a day and 30 minutes' physical activity three times a week. What about sex or masturbation twice a week?" Steve Slack, the director of the Centre for HIV and Sexual Health at NHS Sheffield, who is one of the leaflet's authors, says that instead of promoting teenage sex, it could encourage young people to delay losing their virginity until they are certain they will enjoy the experience. Mr Slack believes that if teenagers are fully informed about sex and are making their decisions of their own will in a loving relationship, they have an equal right as an adult to an enjoyable sex life. Anthony Seldon, the headmaster of Wellington College, which recently introduced classes in emotional wellbeing, said the leaflets were "deplorable". http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education...asm-a-day.html | telling school children that they have a right to have physical activity 3 times a week , and actually encouraging children to masturbate ? this is exactly what happens when government takes the parents away from the children. see this thread no more parental rights , in fact , you cannot take pictures of your kids while they are playing sports . one of the schools in uk stopped all parents from taking pictures of their kids . this is deplorable to the fullest . | | | Jul 20th, 2009, 04:59 pm | #2 (permalink) | | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 27th, 2009 - 07:37 pm Posts: 2,263 | This is indeed one of the most intersting topics.. first i have to laugh at the title "an orgasm a day keeps the doctor away" but coming to the propaganda of the govt to take control .. this is just the beginning...! I would agree with what Saathi has said. THe govt will say that this is education for better life.. but the child now under these guidances of govt can easily become rogue and be disobeident to their parents.. we already see that in the Americas..! Most kids want to leave their home/parents before age of 16..! and almost all kids say they have too many restrictions on them. Govt with these kinds of "advice" does not help that.. My 2.02 cents..! | | It's hard to find a friend who's...... 100% Funky, 100% Generous, 100% Loving,100% Talented, & 100% Sweet so...... don't lose me, okay! | Jul 20th, 2009, 09:20 pm | #3 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 1st, 2009 - 10:54 pm Posts: 147 | hi . if a child is already under government control , that child is no longer connected to parents or the home schooling version of the education . why are governments such as u.k. and germany forcing every child to use the public school system and why are children targeted , is because they are easier to manage . children are easier to control than adults . what message is the government sending by telling a child who is 11 , 12 , 13 years of age that it is ok to masturbate ? the sex education should come from parents , parents should introduce the sex education to their child , and these messages which are sent out as protection and betterment for children are deplorable . there is no way a child would know what masturbation is unless it is told to the child . masturbation comes under the sex education discussion that parents should have with their children . the difference is, parents are not going to tell their children that it is ok to masturbate . | | | Jul 21st, 2009, 03:07 pm | #4 (permalink) | | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 27th, 2009 - 07:37 pm Posts: 2,263 | and rightly so as there are religions and cultures that forbid such activity as well. is it better to know then not know about anything.. to make better decisions.? true these things should be discussed by parents, but again thats on the culture and religion. so now.. if the parents are not doing it, someone would.. and the govt is stepping in... there is always the flipside of any situation. the problem is to find the right balance or choose the right side. and this is why we all are fighting with each other as we do not look for the balance... or we stick to one side that we dont want to hear any other logical and rational reason. | | | Jul 21st, 2009, 09:02 pm | #5 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 1st, 2009 - 10:54 pm Posts: 147 | you said it depends on the culture . which culture does not teach their children of sex education . and which parents dont teach their daughters as to what happens to them as they are growing up . doesnt it happen in all cultures and religions ? where is the balance , either its the parents or the government . if you have children and if you have girls , would you rather have government take away your parental rights and tell your child about their changes in the body ? or would you keep that right as a parent ? there is no balance . there are two parties dealing with the situation , and one party does not see each child as individuals , they combine the whole population under one law or a set of laws with which children can be controlled . | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT.
