If you keep looking in your book when the teacher is explaining/talking to you is it disrespecting the teacher ?

If you chew gum in the class when the teacher is teaching is that disrespect?

Absolutely not, chewing gum and staring at your book while the teacher is talking to you are gestures of respect, admiration and appreciation for your teacher

Looking in the book is fine as long as you are paying attention to what teacher is saying although it is preferred to look at the teacher when you are being taught...

Chewing Gums... No... that should be avoided by all means possible.

;hehe;
We used to that on purpose before.
we would ring each other in between the class just to annoy the teacher ;blush;
phir aik saal baad rule nikal gaya tha uni mei to either not bring cellphones in the class or to keep them on silent ;bummer;

humney aik dafa teacher ko bhi aisey he disturb kiya tha !!!
she was teaching & teaching & teaching...we were getting bored...we knew unnkey paas humaarey no's nahi hain so we gave her a call & when she would leave the clasroom to answer it we would cancel the call ;grin;
poor thing she would come back to the class puzzled as to who it was.
she even tried calling back but humney silent pe kiya hua tha & obviously we would not receive her call !!!
she was very very annoyed & finally aik din aisa kerney ke baad we got a mesage saying "who the hell is this"

then 2 days ke baad we ourselves went & told her.
she was ok with it.
she was happy ke we told her.

It was a good laugh !!!

well , if your mobile rings in me class , ya just need to get tea for your class mates now the numbers of student in one class goes btw 50 to 150

so choice is all yours

And I have a habit of always turning my phone off before entering into a mosque /class room so No penalty on teacher so far

True. On the contrary, how many times have we seen a soda bottle in the class, chips, a gum shared (sometimes openly distributed to the people for a good gesture). It is frequent in the west, in fact often students are encouraged that bringing food in the classroom is not to get alarmed about.
