well the the hygiene issue is bit hysterical to me ... Cant stand Uncleaned people with bad body odour .. Then the loud music ... well it really irritates me on occasions , specially in morning time you know...

Junkies , smoking pots and drinking alcohol beverages on a public transport ....

And o yea ... call me old fashioned , but i never like people smooching their partners and kissing passionately on a public transport ..

I've only used the bus(public transport) for 2 things:-

Going for umrah
going to university

Its irritating when(the following things are not applicable when going to university) :-

ppl play loud music loud music
kids crying continously & saying papa papa or mama mama
people talking loudly on the phone
people who block the passageway
people who smoke in the bus because it suffocates me & I feel like puking but they usually cant smoke in the buses which have familes so thats not much of a problem here.

I think that is about it.
& As long as I'm being left alone I do not get irritated . I love the bus trips cause it gives me time to think over things peacefully with no disturbances around.

As for when going to the university..well its basically all the people whom we already know in the bus so if we dont like anything we simply ask them to not do it .
Its fun in the university bus..we have group discussions..we tease each other with stuff..we help each other with studies ..etc

umm yep I think that's about it regarding public transport !!!

as for me, I had to choose between two most irritating habits...

People who eat strong smelling food
People who refuse to move to the back and block the passage way

I chose strong smelling food over People who refuse to move to the back and block the passage way because the later can be tolerated somehow but the first one.... ewwww

I think public transport should have automatic electronic air freshning system installed

Good discussion topic.

Having observed a few from a passenger point of view, both good habits and those opposite, traveling on subways are a headache when almost every train you get into, you are forced to listen to the latest "hip" song and not only that, people clap and dance to it. Traveling with children around, they catch these habits quickly.

Taking public transportation is good as you save on money and gas and you get discounts on tickets if you purchase in bulk and are a frequent traveler and with perks come the "downgraded" versions of traveling on public transport.

Voted for strong smelly food.

I'd say the following for me,
1. I don't mind if poeple eat their food with manners but do mind a lot when they don't have eating manners - and youre sitting right next to them.
2. Poeple who fall asleep and lean towards your shoulder - well just leave your seat if this happens.
3. Loud music. People who talk loud.

I haven't really used public transport (buses/trains) in US so don't have experience but I know all of the above happens. Have expereinced in the plane though

I've used buses, trams & trains in Aus a lot. My experience was far better than what I have heard about transporation in US.
