One of my favorite poems of Allama Iqbal from BaaNg-e-Dara, so much so that it got memorized without any struggle...
The usage of metaphors in this poem is outstanding... Iqbal is talking about "The Reality of Beauty" in this world and stating that everything is mortal, even beauty.... and he has used all the objects that are considered symbols of beauty to convey the concept.... starting from moon, the morning star, the dewdrops, flowers, buds, the spring season and above all the Youth... and showing how these all things come and go.... but the beautiful is the person who is mortal and mortals need to have good deeds, that will make the beautiful.
Amazing poem and amazing lesson in it....
