عبادتوں کی طرح میں یہ کام کرتا ہوں
میرا اصول ہے، پہلے سلام کرتا ہوں

مخالفت سے میری شخصیت سنورتی ہے
میں دُشمنوں کا بڑا احترام کرتا ہوں

میں جیب میں اپنا پتا نہیں رکھتا
سفر میں صرف یہی اہتمام کرتا ہوں

میں ڈر گیا ہوں بہت سائے دار پیڑوں سے
ذرا سی دھوپ بچھا کر قیام کرتا ہوں

مُجھے خُدا نے غزل کا دریا بخشا ہے
یہ سلطنت میں محبت کے نام کرتا ہوں
