| There have been not many prominent Islamic philosophers to date. To name a few Ibn-e-Sina, Yaqub Alkindi, Al-Farabi and then, Allama Iqbal. Almost all of the Islamic philosopher, including Iqbal, are Scholastic (Urdu: Mutakallim). What it means is that their doctrine has been different than the pure rational philosophers such as Aristotle. Religious mysticism is very much evident in the works of Islamic philosophers; however, even though not being under the rational philosophers category and being scholastic scholar of the religion, the explanation of religion can be seen as perfectly aligned with the rational philosophy in their works. Allama Iqbal's philosophy of Khudi (self awareness) is the base platform of his works. According to Iqbal, when a person forgets/neglects the tasks assigned to him/her, then the God makes him/her forget himself as a result. Discuss any further addition to the thought or to Iqbal's falsafa-e-khudi and your take on it. |
