Does the philosophy look at things in their literal sense or in their metaphoric sense?

For example, how does a philosopher look at day-to-day idioms used in a language?

Ideally, idioms are not taken in their literal sense and they are just a place holder for some applied meanings.... so how can things become better or drastic in such situations?

an opinion: this can be literal and philosphical sense behind the words which draws the observer or the listener closer to object, event and/or person indicating the philosophical words. most of the taunting idioms can severely hurt self-respect and autonomy, and can also indicate a deeper and unconscious wish to dominate or belittle the individual to whom the idioms are said or shared with.

people who do not recognize the literality of idioms, a misplaced or presumed philosophical conjecture and or labeling or narrative, can lead some people to forgetfulness, where they might say: when did this happen?
have we any recollection of this!? they may do so, to prevent and avoid future confrontations and nosy provocations.
finally, philosophy has no place for violations, except of an occasional missing p or q in a truth table.

makes sense?
