Wherever they played, they remember the intricate details of their early playing days, such as what their role was, if the match was held in their backyard or on a busy street, and similar. In addition, potential cricketers also have a tendency to remember what served as their "wicket" for the first time. Early days saw the following being placed as a wicket: 1- Stones (leg-stump or off-stump consisted of 2 stones, or 3 stones. Did you use to measure the off-stump and the leg-stump with the blade of the bat?) 2- Sandals/broken down shoes (ripped sandals was a popular wicket-taking method) 3- Mango crate (when mangoes were in season). 4- Pepsi/Coke crate (imagine a ball thumping on a crate. The sound it creates is unparallel) 5- Anything else from your memory? | | | Feb 7th, 2009, 11:30 pm | #2 (permalink) | | Aaeen-e-Nau say darnaa, tarz-e-Koh'n paY aRnaa Manzil yehi KaThi'n hai, qoumoN kee zindagi maiN Join Date: Dec 31st, 1969 - 11:00 pm Posts: 1,572 | 1 - Check 2 - Check 3 - Check 4 - Never used that but saw other teams using it 5 - Actual Chairs brought from home 6 - Back of wooden chair that looks like "Wickets" firmly made stood with the help of a slanting long wood. | | ShaheeN Kaa JahaaN aur! :-) PakFuse was NOT created in a single day. | Feb 8th, 2009, 08:56 am | #3 (permalink) | | ~ Khavab ki Surat ~ Winner: Best Profile Competition, May 2009 Join Date: Jan 19th, 2009 - 06:08 am Posts: 1,416 | faltoo phate hoe kepre | | | Feb 8th, 2009, 09:05 am | #4 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 5th, 2009 - 05:09 pm Posts: 69 | bricks, we usually used bricks | | | Feb 8th, 2009, 03:48 pm | #5 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 7th, 1977 - 05:00 am Posts: 1,792 | Quote: Originally Posted by *Masoom Muskaan* faltoo phate hoe kepre | You must be one smart shopper. | | | Feb 9th, 2009, 02:16 pm | #6 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 5th, 2009 - 01:34 pm Posts: 127 | bricks . . .
